This clip presents a combination of a film that the United States Government made in 1950 and my rather surprising statistics of the divorce rates in the USA between then and now.
Overall this government-sponsored film was made in the 1950s style, I think that some of the advice given is useful for people, especially young people, looking to get married without understanding what the potential danger signs might be. Do you find this film, though dated, meaningful?
Now the statistics.
Divorce was an issue in America in the 1920s. In 1929, the year of the Great Depression, one in five married people got divorced.
In 1946 at the conclusion of World War II, almost 40% of married Americans got divorced.
In 1960, 10 years after this film was made to help Americans not marry the wrong person and understand more about divorce, one in five married Americans got divorced. 20%. Some of those who comment on my YouTube video clips present statistics that indicate that 5% or 10% got divorced. That is incorrect
Divorces when up and in 1979, almost one in two American married couples got divorced. But the statistics did not continue to rise and since 1988, 39% of Americans have gotten divorced and it is been stable since that time.

In what state are Americans most likely to get married and then divorce? Nevada
Divorce in America is rising in one group of Americans. Which one? Those over 50 years old!
As I mention in this video clip, I posted this because so many of my subscribers and others commenting on my videos mention that since the 1960s, marriage has fallen apart and divorce is rampant. As the statistics show, there has certainly been a change but there is also some stability for the last 30 years with over 60% of Americans marrying and staying married.
