WANETTE, Okla. —
A woman was taken into custody after authorities said she ran over her husband with an ATV, killing him, during a fight over the weekend at Soggy Bottom Trails in Wanette.
Authorities said the incident started after the husband told his wife he wanted a divorce. Now, she’s in jail on a second-degree murder complaint.
“It’s really unfortunate anytime we have a death,” Pottawatomie County Undersheriff J.T. Palmer said.
When the sheriff’s office got the call Saturday night, deputies first considered it an ATV accident. Palmer told KOCO 5 new information indicates the woman intentionally ran over her husband with an ATV.
“She was booked in under manslaughter one, but we’ve asked the DA today to up that to murder two,” Palmer said. “According to witnesses, there was an argument, and they did hear the deceased mention that he wanted a divorce. And at that point, they said that she started yelling and screaming, made some type of statements to the fact that ‘I’ll just run you over and kill you.
